Nuremberg Airport Temporarily Closed to Flights

Nuremberg Airport in Germany was temporarily closed to flight operations following an incident that has yet to be confirmed. A Corendon Airlines Boeing 737 operating flight XR456 from the Greek island of Corfu to Nuremberg was escorted by Eurofighter fighter jets before landing. The aircraft landed safely at the airport at 12:16 p.m. local time.
German police launched an investigation into the incident and implemented security measures at the airport. Officers conducted inspections in the area, and authorities announced at 1:14 p.m. that no threat had been identified following the checks.
Meanwhile, reports of a possible unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sighting had also been received at the same airport during the early morning hours. Three pilots reported seeing a suspicious object between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., prompting a search operation. However, no object was detected. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming whether the two incidents are connected.
